The Löwen-Apotheke closed its doors forever on August 31, 2026. Since 1812, it had been located in the historic patrician house at Dr. Julius-Leber-Str. 13, which is one of the oldest citizen houses in Germany and was built around 1230.
For more than two centuries, the Löwen-Apotheke was an integral part of Lübeck's city history. It was last run by the fourth generation and was known for its personal consultation and wide range of medicines and healing herbs.
Although the pharmacy is no longer open, the Löwen-Manufaktur remains active. You can purchase its products online at loewen-manufactur.de. The manufactory was founded in 2006 by Marcus Niendorf and stands for the rediscovery of the healing powers of nature.
The Löwen-Manufaktur combines traditional herbal knowledge with modern formulation art and offers a variety of products based on natural ingredients. Thus, a piece of Lübeck's tradition will be preserved for the future.
