The Schenkendorfstraße playground in St. Gertrud will undergo comprehensive renovations starting next week. The goal is to create an inclusive play and leisure area that caters to both children and teenagers with and without disabilities.

The planning includes barrier-free access to the playground. All play stations will be connected by a paved path, allowing mobility-impaired children to easily reach the facilities. The needs of children with disabilities will be particularly considered in the selection of play equipment.

The planned play equipment includes:

  • an inclusive swing

  • a barrier-free carousel

  • a ground-level accessible trampoline

Additionally, seating areas and relaxation zones will be created to promote social interactions and relaxation. The natural topography and existing green structure will be preserved and integrated into the design.

Please note that the playground will remain closed throughout the entire construction phase for safety reasons. Completion is planned for spring 2027, as the synthetic surface can only be applied in April 2027 due to weather conditions.
